Design Victoria Festival is a four-day festival celebrating Victoria’s growing design community–from architecture and interiors to fashion, graphic design, furniture, product design, ceramics, and more. Across the city, designers and creative businesses host exhibitions, open studios, installations, tours, and workshops that invite the public to experience design up close.

Now in its fourth year, Design Victoria transforms the city into a celebration of creativity and design. Visitors can explore studios not normally open to the public, discover the stories behind local design businesses, and experience the ideas shaping Victoria’s creative future.

Design Victoria’s vision is to fill the city with inspiring and accessible ways to experience design–from architecture and fashion to public space and emerging creative practices. The festival strengthens Victoria’s creative economy by connecting designers, businesses, and the public through shared experiences.

First launched in 2023, Design Victoria welcomed more than 5,500 attendees in 2025 across dozens of free events throughout the city–most within walking distance of downtown.

West Coast Modern League Presents

On the Boards | Kyla Bidgood & Alexander Suvajac

On May 2nd, the West Coast Modern League, with Gabriel Ross, presents the next in our On the Boards speaker series. We welcome Victoria-based interior designer Kyla Bidgood and Salt Spring Island-based landscape designer Alexander Suvajac, each sharing their latest works and research.

Kyla Bidgood is a Registered Interior Designer and Creative Director of the award-winning design studio Bidgood. Bidgood creates spaces that blur the lines between design eras and styles. Their interiors embrace warmth, texture, and rich materials that are both thoroughly functional and artistically uplifting. Bidgood is dedicated to cultivating a feeling of joy in every space they touch. Anchored in thoughtful materiality and tactile experiences, their interiors are curated and considered.

Alexander Suvajac is a landscape designer with a focus on rural retreats, wellness spaces, contemporary urban gardens, artist retreats, and restorative gardens. With respect and intention, the work seeks to create serene spaces that complement the outward expression of the land. Informed by new perspectives, the studio’s work and focus have developed to emphasize creating atmospheres that evoke a greater sense of well-being. The projects offer quiet confidence and respect for the sensitive, subtle, and energetic qualities space creates. The landscape design practice values a listening and response to the poetry of the landscape instilled over years of experience.
