Beginning June 28th, join the Il Centro Italian Cultural Centre as they celebrate the art and architecture of Vancouver’s influential architect, Bruno Freschi.
“1986 was a threshold year for the City of Vancouver. From May through to October the city was host to world famous Expo. Held in the city centre this monumental event attracted people from throughout the world. Such colossal exposure ensured that Vancouver would never again be the same. Bruno Freschi was the architect for this world wide event and spearheaded both the economic growth of this city and also a unique architectural style; one which focused on sacred space and a non-hierarchical world view. This exhibition looks back to Expo exhibiting Freschi’s architectural drawings which have become part of the permanent collection at the Vancouver city archive. This exhibition, held in honour of Italian heritage month, focuses on this BC Born Italian Canadian architect, who has forever influenced the history and reputation of this city.” – Italian Cultural Centre
