The League welcomes Alex Josephson to Vancouver
VANCOUVER: On January 31st, the West Coast Modern League will host a salon in honour of Alex Josephson of PARTISANS, co-hosting a reception to celebrate the launch of his new book RISE & SPRAWL: The Condominiumization of Toronto. The book launch, will take place separately the following evening at Inform Interiors, including a presentation of the book with author’s Alex Josephson and Hans Ibelings, along with a panel discussion involving James Cheng, Kate Busby, and moderated by Adele Weder, architecture critic and founder of the West Coast Modern League.
RISE & SPRAWL: The Condomiumization of Toronto, authored by Hans Ibelings and PARTISANS, “is the story of the rise and sprawl of the condo tower in Toronto. The sheer number of new towers, their size, mass, volume, and height, let alone the speed by which they are being built, is remarkable. The only thing that isn’t remarkable about Toronto’s condominiums is their architecture. ‘Rise and Sprawl’ analyzes the recent condominiumization of Toronto. It is also a call to action to do things differently and design better, bolder buildings.” – Ibelings
