January 31, 2016 from 5-7pm
Presented by the West Coast Modern League
Hosted by Tom Bunting
The West Coast Modern League was happy to welcome Alex Josephson of PARTISANS to Vancouver, co-hosting a reception to celebrate the launch of his new book RISE & SPRAWL: The Condominiumization of Toronto. The book launch, which took place separately the following evening at Inform Interiors, included a presentation of the book with author’s Alex Josephson and Hans Ibelings, along with a panel discussion involving James Cheng, Kate Busby, and moderated by the League’s Adele Weder.
Special thanks to Tom Bunting.
RISE & SPRAWL: The Condomiumization of Toronto, authored by Hans Ibelings and PARTISANS, “is the story of the rise and sprawl of the condo tower in Toronto. The sheer number of new towers, their size, mass, volume, and height, let alone the speed by which they are being built, is remarkable. The only thing that isn’t remarkable about Toronto’s condominiums is their architecture. ‘Rise and Sprawl’ analyzes the recent condominiumization of Toronto. It is also a call to action to do things differently and design better, bolder buildings.” – Ibelings
