Restoration Over Rebuild at IDS Vancouver 2026
VANCOUVER: On September 26th, architect and League Chair Steve Gairns will join Laura Carey, Glyn Lewis, and Meme Brooks at IDS Vancouver for a conversation on the restoration and preservation of our modern heritage.
As housing needs evolve, preserving what already exists can be one of the most innovative and sustainable paths forward. Moderator Meme Brooks was joined by a panel of experts as they explored how thoughtful restoration can create beautiful, functional homes that meet modern lifestyles while protecting the character and architectural heritage of the West Coast. From sustainability and material reuse to design strategies that bring older homes up to today’s standards, this conversation examines why preserving and adapting our built environment can benefit homeowners, communities, and the planet.
