Roddy Langmuir – 2024.02.28
Category : Events
Join UBC SALA at Inform Interiors on February 28th for a talk by Roddy Langmuir.
Roddy Langmuir is a Practice Leader at London’s Cullinan Studio, with a focus on the design quality of the work of the practice. After growing up in the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland, and studying in Edinburgh, he joined Cullinan Studio where he found an empathy for crafting buildings that engage with and respond to their environment. As a Practice Leader, Langmuir has developed a design method based on storytelling that begins with context, topography, micro-climate and the cultural drivers of his clients and their chosen setting, inspiring expressive, clearly articulated buildings. Roddy chairs design review panels for Architecture and Design Scotland and lectures widely on projects and practice in the UK and abroad.
Edward Cullinan Architects, the precursor to Cullinan Studio, was established by Ted Cullinan in 1965. An early proponent of sustainability and social awareness, Cullinan’s practice was often in opposition to mainstream British architecture. His legacy is explored in the book Being Ted Cullinan, featuring the perspectives of over 30 friends, colleagues, and historians and edited by Alan Berman and Ian Latham.
