Produced by All in Pictures, Richard Henriquez: Building Stories “is a portrayal of Vancouver-based architect Richard Henriquez and his approach to design and his use of storytelling when contemplating his buildings. Richard George Henriquez is a Canadian architect known for launching Henriquez & Todd with Robert Todd in 1969 which evolved over 50 years to become the Henriquez Partners Architects of today. His projects are known for its blend of unique design with its historical context. His accumulation of work is celebrated by dozen of awards including the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada Gold Medal (2005), Governor Generals Medal (1994), and the Order of Canada (2017).”[1]
A prominent figure in Canadian architecture, Richard Henriquez is known for creating some of the west coast’s most iconic buildings, including Eugenia Place (1987), Silvia Tower (1984), Jericho Circle House (1986), the Sinclair Centre (1986), the Presidio Tower (1989), the Justice Institute of British Columbia (1992), Capilano University Library (1993), Thompson Community Centre (1995), Burnaby Firehall No. 5 (1998), New Westminster Firehall No. 4 (1998), Gaslight Square (1975), False Creek Housing Cooperative (1978), BC Cancer Research Centre (2004), Michael Smith Laboratories at UBC (2004), and Vancouver Firehall No. 22 (1979), among many others. His body of work has also spanned the country with such projects as the Environmental Sciences Building at Trent University (1991) and the National Peacekeeping monument (1992).
