“Zoltan Kiss was born in Györ, Hungary. After a classical education at a Catholic boys’ school, he moved to Budapest to study architecture at the Technical Univeristy. During his third year, World War II forced him to escape Hungary to Denmark where he learned the craft of ceramics. In 1950, Kiss immigrated to Vancouver, Canada, enrolled at the University of British Columbia and a year later graduated with the University’s first architecture class. In 1965, he was one of five architects to win the competition to design the new Simon Fraser University in Burnaby. Soon after he launched his own private architectural company and career.
In retirement he focuses on creating ceramic sculptures and paintings. Zoltan Kiss lives in West Vancouver with his wife Jytte.” – Sandor Press.
