Derakhshani’s talk will explore architecture’s capacity to generate positive social, spatial, and cultural impact, bridging critical reflection with disciplinary agency through selected projects that have demonstrably improved lives. 

Farrokh Derakhshani is an Iranian architect and urban planner based in Geneva, Switzerland, with over four decades of experience spanning professional practice and institutional leadership. He has served as Director of the Aga Khan Award for Architecture since 2006. His work focuses on contemporary architecture in Muslim societies, with an emphasis on cultural context, social responsibility, and design excellence.Arrive at 5:00 PM for light refreshments, Derakhshani’s talk starts at 6:00 PM.
